PLANES, TRAINS, & AUTOMOBILES

These are a few of my favorite things:

  • Best cheap flight notification services:

    • Everyone always asks how I find my cheap flights (Peru for $240, Philippines for $550, Guatemala for $220, Barcelona for $320... you get my drift.) Usually, I start my day using the "everywhere" function on Google Flights and just daydreaming about all the cheap fares I see that morning... but if you're not trying to spend your morning aimlessly staring at a map, try one of the options below:
  • Flights.google.com

    • Oh, you're still using *insert other flight search engine here*?  STOP.  STOP USING ANYTHING ELSE.  Google Flights is the GOAT.

      • Dead set on where you're going and when you want to be there?  Enter in your info, click search, then take a look at the Date Grid or Price Graph if you have a smidge of flexibility.  If not, snag the best option or hit "Track Prices" if you aren't ready to take the plunge yet.

        • You can also track specific flights rather than routes, if you select your flights and then choose to "Track Prices" for that selection.

      • Not sure where to go, but know your dates?  Leave the destination blank to see a map with price.

      • Not sure where to go or when?  Leave the destination blank, click "search", then edit the dates on the map page to select "flexible dates" and poke around from there!

  • Skyscanner.com

    • Another great option to find the cheapest flights; best for international travel and those super cheap Euro flights ($12 for an international flight-- HOW?!)

  • Momondo.com

    • Similar to Skyscanner, so this is a good stop if you want to be 1,000% sure that you've got the best deal on the planet.

  • Rome2Rio.com

    • The absolutely best if you're trying to figure out how to get from point A to point B, but aren't sure if the best way would be a train, bus, plane, taxi, etc.  This site was a lifesaver when travelling Europe, where the transportation modes are endless, but the price and the time spent commuting can be differentiating factors
